Fake Gold
I don’t keep the lights low no more
I want to see who I keep around
Hang around destinations door
Walk in when everyone walks out
I don’t keep the light low no more
I want you all to see what’s in my mind
I’m a wide open second hand store
True beauty for half the price
Full of fake gold
Fake gold.
I don’t waste nobody’s time no more
Fill it up with what the world forgot
You can never be quite too sure you’re not
Giving out more than you’ve got
I don’t waste nobody’s time no more
I wanna see what’s selling in my mind
I’m a wide open second hand store
Good stories but bad advice
Full of fake gold
Fake gold
I don’t waste nobody’s time no more
I wanna see what’s selling in my mind
I’m a wide open second hand store
True beauty for half the price
Full of fake gold
Fake gold
Maybe shaking just a little of the country dust off for this album, but still with the on-the-nose, clever, relatable lyrics, this is Esther’s most innovative album yet
P.S. really missin ol’ Matt Bell on the lapsteel James Champion
It's really DBT at their finest. Reminds me at times of Southern Rock Opera, also their mid 2000s records, other times some of their more recent albums only more polished and cohesive and better melodies, better hooks, better lyrics.
Long live DBT! bdean42
